Handheld Laser Welding Machine Installation Guide

1. Safety Instructions

WARNING: Failure to follow these safety instructions may result in serious injury, equipment damage, or fire. Laser radiation is extremely hazardous to eyes and skin.

  • Laser Safety:

    • NEVER look directly into the laser beam or its reflections.

    • ALWAYS wear the provided laser safety goggles (OD 7+ for the appropriate wavelength) before operating the machine.

    • Ensure all personnel in the work area are aware of the laser hazard and are wearing appropriate protective eyewear.

    • Place warning signs around the work area.

  • Electrical Safety:

    • Ensure the power supply matches the machine's voltage requirements (e.g., AC 220V±10%, 50/60Hz).

    • Connect the machine to a properly grounded electrical outlet.

    • Turn the main power switch to "OFF" before making any electrical connections.

    • Use the provided power cable; do not use damaged cables.

  • Fire Safety:

    • Keep the work area clean and free of flammable materials (e.g., paper, solvents, cloth).

    • Always have a fire extinguisher readily available.

    • Do not leave the machine unattended while it is powered on.

  • General Safety:

    • Do not disassemble any part of the machine while it is powered on.

    • Ensure the cooling system is functioning properly before operation.

    • Only trained and authorized personnel should assemble and operate this equipment.

2. Package Contents

Before starting, verify that you have all the following components:

Component Qty Check (✓)
Main Laser Power Supply Unit 1
Handheld Laser Welding Gun 1
Cooling System (Water Chiller) 1
Control Foot Pedal 1
Power Cable 1
Chiller Water Inlet/Outlet Hoses 2
Purified Water / Coolant 1 Bottle
Laser Safety Goggles 1 Pair
User Manual & Software CD/USB 1 Set
Optional: Wire Feeder Unit 1

3. Assembly & Connection Procedure

Follow these steps in sequence for correct assembly.

Step 1: Positioning the Main Units

  1. Place the Laser Power Supply Unit and the Water Chiller on a stable, level surface near a grounded power outlet.

  2. Ensure there is at least 30cm of clearance around the units for proper ventilation.

Step 2: Connect the Cooling System

  1. Locate the water inlet and outlet ports on the Laser Power Supply Unit and the Water Chiller. They are typically labeled "IN" and "OUT."

  2. Connect one water hose from the Chiller's OUTLET to the Power Supply's INLET.

  3. Connect the second water hose from the Power Supply's OUTLET to the Chiller's INLET.

  4. Tighten all hose connections securely to prevent leaks.

  5. Fill the Water Chiller reservoir with the provided purified water or coolant to the indicated level. Do not use tap water.

Step 3: Connect the Handheld Welding Gun

  1. Identify the multi-pin connector on the end of the Welding Gun cable.

  2. Align this connector with the corresponding socket on the front panel of the Laser Power Supply Unit.

  3. Push the connector in firmly and secure it by tightening the threaded collar (if applicable). Ensure this connection is tight and secure.

Step 4: Connect the Control Foot Pedal

  1. Plug the foot pedal connector into the dedicated "FOOT PEDAL" port on the Power Supply Unit.

  2. Place the foot pedal in a comfortable and accessible position on the floor.

Step 5: Connect the Power

  1. Ensure the main power switch on the Laser Power Supply Unit is in the "OFF" (O) position.

  2. Plug the power cable into the Power Supply Unit's socket and then into the grounded wall outlet.

  3. Connect the Water Chiller to a separate power outlet.

4. Initial Startup and Check

  1. Power On the Chiller: Turn on the Water Chiller. You should hear the pump start and see the water temperature and flow rate on its display. Confirm that the cooling system is operating normally.

  2. Power On the Main Unit: Turn the main power switch on the Laser Power Supply Unit to the "ON" (I) position.

  3. System Initialization: The machine will perform a self-check. Wait for the system to fully boot up. The control screen should display the main menu.

  4. Check for Leaks: Visually inspect all water hose connections for any signs of leakage. If a leak is found, POWER OFF IMMEDIATELY and tighten the connection.

  5. Gas Connection (if applicable): Connect your shielding gas (e.g., Argon or Nitrogen) cylinder to the "GAS IN" port on the Power Supply Unit. Set the gas regulator to the recommended pressure/flow rate (refer to welding parameters guide).

5. Software & Parameter Setup

  1. On the touchscreen, navigate to the parameter setting menu.

  2. Set the initial welding parameters (Power, Frequency, Duty Cycle, Wire Feed Speed) based on the material and thickness you will be welding. Consult the Welding Parameter Chart provided in the full User Manual.

  3. Perform a test run on a sample piece of the same material to fine-tune the parameters.

Troubleshooting (Basic)

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Machine will not start No power supply; Main switch off. Check power cable and outlet; Ensure main switch is ON.
"Water Flow Alarm" Chiller not on; Hoses kinked/blocked; Low coolant. Start chiller; Check and straighten hoses; Refill coolant.
"Over Temperature Alarm" Cooling system failure; Ambient temperature too high. Check chiller function; Improve ventilation.
No laser output Foot pedal not connected; Safety interlock active; Incorrect settings. Check pedal connection; Ensure gun is connected properly; Check parameters.
Poor weld quality Incorrect parameters; Unstable gas flow; Dirty material surface. Adjust power/speed; Check gas flow; Clean workpiece.

Note: This guide covers basic assembly and initial setup. For detailed operation, advanced parameter settings, maintenance schedules, and full troubleshooting, please refer to the complete User Manual provided with your machine.

What is Lorem Ipsum? Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum. Why do we use it? It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using 'Content here, content here', making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for 'lorem ipsum' will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).
